Letter from Roman Pavlyuchenko

Letter from Roman Pavlyuchenko
"I want you to publish this letter to all Tottenham Hotspur fans as I am sick of reading defamatory remarks about me on these blogs.
Firstly, I need to get a few facts straight.
When I was at Spartak Moscow I was their most prolific goalscorer and in 2003 was called up for my national side Russia and have indeed been selected ever since. In 2008 I scored twice in Russia's thrashing of England and after the summer Euro 2008 was named in the "23 -man Team of the Tournament"
In September 2008 Tottenham Hotspur paid £14M for me and I began a new chapter in my life moving to London and playing in the Premiership.
Since adapting to the Premiership I have scored many quality goals and some very important ones but competition for places at Spurs is fierce so my match selection has suffered as a result.
I would like to remind the fickle Spurs supporters that they wouldnt be in the Champions League at all without my imput and presence up front (sometimes as lone striker) even though at times without the service that a quality striker deserves it might seem as, how you say, "gone on the missing list"
I refute the criticism that I have no commitment or that I am lazy, Mr Harry Redknapp once told me that he regards me as a very unique aquisition and this encouragement was invaluable to me and my progress at Spurs.I will travel to Milan and if Mr Redknapp selects me then I will indeed try to get on the score sheet.
I feel that Im worth more than the £14M that was paid for my services and in the summer if certain criteria hasnt been met here at Tottenham Hotspur then I may return to my homeland where I know Im appreciated and a household name.
To all the Spurs supporters that have, how you say, "given me grief", all I can say is you will find it very hard if not impossible to find a quality striker to replace me but in the meantime get behind me and your team."

I don't think those comments are fair on Pav. He scored 7 or 8 times this season on limited game time, and were he given a proper run in the team, he'd start playing like he did last March.

P.S. A few of the above comments appear to be actually believing that Pav actually wrote this.

Anyone can be replaced but to think of all the great players we've had at Spurs..Pavchencho dont come close to them.
Funny article,cheered me up,well done.
COYS!!

Hey guys, leave our strikers alone. All 3 front man, have had a poor season so far. They may not be scoring, but at least each of them has come back to defend when we have been under pressure from opponents. There are various components to the game.

PREDICTION: Pav gets va hatrick tomorrow!! (if hes not a lone striker with no service) HA HA HA

Dear Roman,

I have a lot of respect for you writing an open letter to us, who love the club. Thankyou.

Not everyone will agree with what you say, but I find it refreshing, and I think you should be applauded for your honesty and passion. Not told to fuck off.. like some of these dickheads are doing!!

I think this shows passion and a desire to defend your efforts, I think you should play more..
You are a quality player whose runs dont always get picked up..it just hasnt not been a 4-4-2 year for spurs due to Rafa.

Keep up the hard work and show us what you can do!!!!

Yours sincerely,

Humphrey

There is a few valid points made, Pav was a good player or we wouldnt have paid £14M for him and he actually has suffered by selection HR doesnt seem to trust him and yes I can see him moving on in the summer.
My view of Pav is that he isnt strong enough in the challenge/fight for ball like say Shearer was.

Anonymous said...

just ask yourself, 1v1 against the keeper, crouch or Pav?

Free header at the back post, crouch or pav?

To hold up the ball, crouch or pav?

Any of Pavs goals, Young boys or chelsea, could crouch score them?

Crouch misses a sitter, then turns around and smiles. The bloke winds me up. Bring him on in the last 10 mins if we need a goal.

Pav not given the chance

Just to be clear.. written in same format for effect.

Would be nice if Pav reads it tho!! lol

Nice one Humph we got a sense of humour!!

Pav couldnt hit a cows arse with a shovel

Ants said...

I would rather have him in my team than Crouch... and lets be honest JD aint doing too much either!!!
so dont understand what everyone is moaning about!!!

Anonymous said...

I hope we DO get more than £14M for him..what a waste of time and money this 'prolific' scorer has been.

Pav is a good playeer.. He's no Drogba / Torres, but good enough for our squad.. Sometimes he looks quality, sometimes he looks poor. But one thing is for sure, to get someone in who is consistantly better than him would cost £20m+, so no point in giving any of our strikers a hard time, until we sign someone better.

Anonymous said...

Up front should be Crouch and Kranks with Defoe brought on when Milano legs are wobbling.

Anonymous said...

I can understand the sentiment behind the letter/article but Pav just hasnt 'how you say?' 'cut the mustard' :)
I liked the look of A Carrol, a fighter, pity we missed out on him.

Anonymous said...

We would have every right to slate Pav but when all is said and done he is doing no worst than Defoe and Crouch and tbh I reckon he would score more goals if given the game time and committed himself to the cause a lot more.

Anonymous said...

It would be very nice if some people could write a comment without swearing.Spurs must have a lot of supporters who lack brains, and tis is coming from a Spurs fan for 62 years.

Anonymous said...

Im sorry i refuse to beleive this is Roman Pavlyuchenko, he seems like a lovely bloke and sometimes a bit volatile but nothing to suggest he would write a letter like that. Compared to other clubs he has not really taken much stick.

Anonymous said...

Pav just isnt good enough, I'd suggest this was written by someone that doesnt know very much about football and thinks all our players are just brilliant rather than looking to see where we can improve as a team.

Anonymous said...

To ALL the uncouth and BLIND so called supporters who've commented so far! ( I am a 54 year supporter and I STILL have eyes )
WHO is this season's SPURS top League striker ?...NOT Crouch (2) or Defoe ( FAT ZERO in 16 games!)
Pav is NOT playing well, granted!...But gets the least no of mins on the pitch, therefore his strike rate is the highest! FACT!
On the basis of those stupid comments, how would you describe Defoe's performance vs Sunderland???...answers on a STAMP PLEASE!

Anonymous said...

Everyone knows he is shit. What is all the fuss about?

Anonymous said...

Defoe is proven, everyone knows hes had probs this season.
Defoe v Pav = No Contest Defoe EVERYTIME
btw..great article been fed up with the recent transfer baloney talk

Anonymous said...

Fickle???

He wouldn't know what fickle meant if it came and sat next to him at a bar and offered to pay for the vodka all night. If you are going to post something like this at leaast make it sound convincing you pr1ck.

Anonymous said...

I think Pav will play tomorrow and show his worth, he is now in the shop window.Like he says, he is a top striker and if he wasnt would we have paid £14M for him?

Anonymous said...

How many other players have we paid over the top transfer fees for that havent impressed or couldnt make it at top level in this country. Who is to blame? Manager? Director of football? Levy?

Anonymous said...

I get gist of article but the question really is:Why keep making excuses for duffers, Pav cant consistently perform. He may have performed BEFORE we bought him but be honest he dont frighten any defences.

Some of you idiots must be more stupid than yous sound with comments like these. As if Pav wrote this shit, anyway I reckon he has grounds to be a bit pissed more goals than the bean pole and Jd combined but with far less opportunity. Should be first striker picked to start I think, until the other 2 pull their finger out and start netting a few at least !

Just seen this, heaps of laughing going on here, you pomms take EVERYTHING serious, its no wonder you got one of the highest heart disease stats in the world.
On the article, its goofy but loved it.Lighten up UK !!!
If Pavlyuchenko is picked to play then the way to shut the doubters is to perform.IMO he wont start but could come on in second half.
A draw would be massive for Spurs.

jme said...

can't you get in trouble for misrepresentation here? also, why would someone type things people only ever say, "how you say" being one example.

the post is harsh on pav who redknapp clearly doesn't rate but is able to find the net. he's lazy like berba, but without the goals to back up his style of play. really wouldn't want him ahead of many players but with defoe's continued form, he does merit a place. not tonight though, crouch lubs the champs league

bright spur said...

Lets assume Pavlyuchenko reads this blog..here Tottenham Hotspur supporters truly have THEIR say to him, uncensored or 'vetted' by some up-their-own-arse moderator. I like this blog,I get where the writer is coming from. I think some people that have come here to post need to flex their head muscle....oops for those that dont understand that off the wall, out of the box comment..their brain!!
Keep up the good work, keep it free and may let it stay UNCENSORED. Lets hope we win tonight.

Anonymous said...

fuck me, theres' some weird, pedantic, moronic Spurs fans out there - isn't there??

It's only a humorous go at giving Pav's side of the story.

1. If all you can think to say os fuck off - take your own advise.

2. If you think Pav actually wrote this or you have posted to say it isn't really him - find the nearest cliff and jump off it.

My personal opinion. VDV is our main man up front, he tends to play better with Crouch than he does with Defoe or Pav, so Crouch gets the nod for me. But, if VDV isn't firing and we need a special goal from someone - no Bale and no THudd mean Pav (and Niko) are our best bet.

Anonymous said...

perfect pavy actually what he is saying is true keeping him on the bench is sure and clear no champions league place for you guys or even bench him tomorrow spurs will definitely loose against milan.he" has that super quality of a striker than crouch and defoe.i agree with of the lose of form but he is comimg back gradually and he would perform.he contributed greatly where we are today not even defoe or crouch but rather doctor bale and him.let wait and see.

Anonymous said...

Pav could be a hero yet, lets wait and see.

Oh dear, all this talk of Pav being shit and not worth 14m, only ever used as a sub blah blah fucking blah! Pav scores goals, without him last season we would not be playing AC Milan tomorrow, simple as that! Also, did you ever rate Solksjaer at United? Excellent Squad player just like Pav is!

Pavlyuchenko should leave in the summer, hes not a squad player ffs he cost £14M but hasnt delivered, if I had performed in my job like he has I woulda been sacked.
HR dont like him cos HR didnt buy him and knows that he was a bad buy waste of money.

Anonymous said...

Selling Berbatov and buying Pav as a replacement was a huge downgrade.

His attitude stinks and I will be glad to see the back of the lazy russian in the summer.
